What is the meaning of the Status categories
| 12:16 pm on Nov 5, 2003 (gmt 0)|
A newbie question on Ask submissions. The url recommender returns a list of urls and provides a "Status" classification for each url line. What is the significance of a 200 status and 1001 status?

The URL Recommender returns a series of statuses to the user, many of which include a hyperlinked explanation. For example, Error 1001 produces:
1001 ERROR_DOCREADER: Network Error
Problem: Your URL could not be accessed due to a TCP/IP error.
Solution: Please wait a few hours and check the status of your URL again.
A status 200 (for which there is no hyperlink) is a URL that has been found and returned correctly (no errors if you prefer).
We are reviewing the Error codes and generated messages to ensure that they make sense to the user and are informative - hopefully this will be done over the coming months.
