How to Optimize for Teoma / Ask

 5:29 pm on May 14, 2003 (gmt 0)

I'm getting some good serps in google, msn & yahoo on 10 keywords. I only appear on ask for 2 of the keywords, and only keywords much lower down the list.

As i've optimised one site i've gone up in all the other serps but down in Ask.

What are the tricks to mastering Teoma / Ask?

The Teoma algo sees sites as communities that interact around the edges. Links within your niche are especially important.

Oh, and patience. Teoma seems exceedingly slow in updating its database.

As with all other engine's, teoma looks at the structure of the web, and the structure of your site. The closer that you can get the structure of your site, to fit teoma's view of the web the better.

Structure in the context used: relates to the navigation and content distribution accross the site, with as WBF mention's the necessary related incoming links to back it up, within a tight as possibly related structure, so that they reinforce the content of the site.

Dependant on the scale of your site, it maybe worth a rethink, this would also help in most other search engine's for ranks. Its not so much optimization, but a well planned out web site promotional campaign.

The best advice I could give is try to get incomming links from sites that would fall under your community. Most important authority sites.
