Hi there, i have added my website to my profile, and when i edit my profile the site shows, but not when I view it. I searched this site, but couldn't find anything on this topic.

100 posts was to lift the noindex tag on the url to let the spiders in

i thought it was 10 or 20 something quite low

The minimum post count to have your site appear in your profile is ... a secret.

I think I read a thread about the rules being tightened once. I do not remember it very well, but my impression was (and still is) that somebody had been abusing the possibility.

I personally believe that the minimum may very well to some degree be individual. We are all watched by the moderators and administrators for a number of reasons, both positive and negative. It ought to be technically easy to change the minimum for an individual member, and in some cases the administrators may find this possibility useful.

I have gone above and beyond the call of webmaster duty to protect user emails from spam harvestors. I've also tried to protect the board from drive bys where people can quasi spam profile urls. The later leads to one time signups and low quality posts in order to generate profile referrals or shop the competition.

I've wanted to leave public profiles out there in the open as a perk to members. If members are willing to contribute to the community, then they should receive the benefits of quality profile referrals.

The number of problems that have occured with profiles has steadily increased. Hardly a day goes when some incident, upset, or questionable action is traceable back to public profiles. We spend a great deal of time dealing with it. Time that would be better spent contributing to the forums ourselves.

I have given a great deal of thought to the issue and I think the window on public profiles is drawing to a close. Profiles will still be accessible to logged in members, but email harvestors, search engine bots, and other bots that can't log into the system will be locked out.

Brett, so profiles will not show up for a search in Google etc?

I must say i would rather see it stay, not due to the URL in the profile, but the indexing of the profile's have been very helpful, in all different kinds of situation, unless you create a search specific for the profiles here, i would like to see it stay indexed.

Happily I have no wish to post a website or an email address.;)

I prefer to keep my anonymity, less hastle that way from the odd nutters around!

WE KNOW WHO YOU ARE

You know, but THEY don't ;)

The Cornwall is only to throw "them" off the scent. I really live in Lincolnshire

"When I was bound apprentice in famous Lincolnshire,
Full well I served my master for more than seven year
Till I took up to poaching as you will quickily hear;
O 'tis my delight on a shining night, in the season of the year."
