OK this will be my 400th post so I will use it to highlight some of more interesting points of my detention in this place.
My first ever post.
"hi there I am the webmaster of a new web directory... please feel free to add your url <edit> but please, no adult sites. this directory is family friendly.
(edited by: littleman on 11:37 pm (gmt) on June 15, 2001)"
Well thatís how it all started, a URL drop and an edit by littleman. He was even good enough to write a reply.
"Hi Mach, welcome to the board. Unfortunately, posting the URLs is against WebmasterWorld's TOS. That said, please join our community, you will find this place an extremely valuable resource as you seek to promote your site."
Even if he did spell my user name wrong :(.
After that I became a totally law abiding citizen of webmasterworld although I do come up with some top class typos.
"If a user finds your site and has a bed experience, they will not return."
tilt: "Unless it's an adult site; then maybe they want a bed experience. <sorry>"
And sometimes I leave it up to the members of webmasterworld to make some really important decisions.
Ok I have just decided to build a new site... right now I am at that scary stage where I am staring at a blank screen waiting for inspiration... I want to build a site thatís just that little bit different, I am not interested in making money from it or selling anything... any ideas
anyone???? lol "
I even took a look at corporate collaborations from hell
"What two companies would you least like to form a partnership or takeover.
my worst nightmare would be AOL to buy over yahoo!. That way they are in the web directory driving seat with the ODP and Y! directory at their disposal. Scary thought.
Whats your partnership from hell? "
Some people even agree and make it sound as if I actually know what I am talking about
"I agree with mack - the web is a business platform that's just stabilizing for the first time. "
But eventualy I made up for my evil beginnings by ticking someone else off for a url drop
"I think someone from WebmasterWorld will be pretty unhappy about the dropping of url's in this forum. The idea of WebmasterWorld is to ofer help and advice on aspects of web design and related topics, not for finding the answers for a full project. By regularly reading and posting at WebmasterWorld you will be able to build on your knowlege yourself and soon you will be answering the questions yourself.
Ps when I took a look at your site it was showing 404 (page not found)
I even got commented on for my hummer
"smile Ohh yah MR.MACK you are so silly funny. I did get a good laugh!"
But I am very surprised that the animal cruelty people didnít pay me a visit for my antics in that very same thread.
Well I have had a great time and am looking forward to the next 400 posts. That is of course if Brett will have all my misguided givingís and typos.
Oh yea my website <edit> oops!
