Bug Reports

 6:13 pm on Jun 2, 2002 (gmt 0)

If you see something that looks like a problem (eg: It's a BUG dude), please post it here.

I'd like to know how to reproduce the problem, if at all possible.

Is something wrong with the "recent posts"? When I select recent posts the results are not correct. I checked different threads and they are not in any type of order at all. Last posts from June 3rd are above many of the June 4th posts. Did you stop sorting by date of last post?

Edited: For example I just posted this but when choosing recent messages it doesn't show up. It is #65 with no red dot. :(

Thanks dstanovic - I was working on it.

And I see you fixed it :)

Test post. ... k works fine again.

When you post or edit your post, the refresh takes you to the first page of posts. Should it go to the last page so that you can your post?

maybe already mentioned since i cant read em all :)

the option to open links in the same window in threads.

Its ok when the link is displayed "as is". But when someone uses markup it still opens in a new window

I love the changes baring 2 issues.

1. I'm not sure whether it's good or bad that you can only edit you post if it is the last post in the thread.

2. I don't like the redirect after an edit or new posting because it takes you to page 1 of the thread and not the last page.

However, I love the new sticky, notes and flags integration.

Great Job Brett.

Maybe it is me but "sent" emails appear as 0 even after sending 3 or 4.

>Reload this link, twice, exit and restart your browser and login:

Cannot reset cookies. Used above link (twice - actually tried this over six times), cookies supposedly deleted, exited browser but when coming back into WMW I am automatically logged in and my cookies are still there. The cookies are old, some going back to early April. I know I've visited those forums since early April - both before and after this system rewrite.

OK... Post times in actual threads show properly (since I set my timezone an hour off to compensate for daylight savings...). Post times in the active list show correctly. But, when I look at the "forum view" the "Last Message" times for the threads in the list are ALL screwed up.

Right now, it appears people have been posting at 1am tomorrow...

The "extra sticky" stickymail bug is back? (Messages won't auto-delete upon sucessful reply)

And the "You have mail" notice isn't updating properly after message deletion again?

 1:47 am on Jun 6, 2002 (gmt 0)

Still can't get rid of cookies and not getting email updates. I'm sending a sticky to Brett with all the things I've tried and all the browsers used :)

This is a test post to see if it goes through, if I can edit it and if I get an email update.

[edit - yep, I can edit it]
[2nd edit - nope, no email update for this post]

 2:06 pm on Jun 6, 2002 (gmt 0)

E-mail Notification - Subject Line: I didn't see that anyone had posted this, sorry if it's a dupe. E-mail notification seems to be working, but the subject line may mis-identify the forum. E.g., a thread in the Google forum may have the correct "[Google] Reply Post Notification" one time, but another time it will be marked "[Website Technology Issues] Reply Post Notification". The thread ID and link are correct and identical.

 2:13 pm on Jun 6, 2002 (gmt 0)

Oh, yeah, another minor e-mail issue. The "To" field appears to be blank in reply notifications. I don't know if this would trigger the "mail not addressed to me" flag in a spamkiller program like Mailwasher, but it might be good to fill it in if there's no technical issue that prevents it. Also, some users sort their inbox using rules for different e-mail accounts.

Lots of bugs reported here. Don't have time to read through to see if already reported.

I have the following thread set to display 25 posts per page. As it has 59 posts, it should be displaying 3 pages, but it's only displaying two, so I'm not seeing messages 51-59 at all.

Incidentally, what happens with these urls when we link between threads and have display preferences set that are different from the linking urls?

I'm going to be out tonight so I won't be available for feedback.

PS to message I just posted on this thread... I'm not seeing that message. Can't figure out what's going on. If you'd like me to check anything, please sticky me... I'll be back around midnight.

 1:08 am on Jun 7, 2002 (gmt 0)

My profile is set to show 75 posts.

When I went to view this post (106 messages) it did not give me a link for the second page!

That's one way to keep the threads shorter!

 1:47 am on Jun 7, 2002 (gmt 0)

Don't know if this is a bug in forum 19 or email updates or both.

Sometime earlier today I stopped being able to see page 4 of the Bugs thread in forum 19 but I have received two email updates telling me there have been at two new posts.

Since I can't see page 4 of the bugs thread I won't know if this gets posted or not.

New problem for me -
When I log in as myself, I cannot see the last page in any multi-page thread (no matter where I set the page break options).

If I delete cookies, then re-enter as a guest, I can see everything. But as soon as I log in, the last page of any thread disappears.

Here's what's weird - now that I am in "Reply" mode, I can scroll down and see all of the posts - but I cannot see them in normal view. Judging from the two posts I just saw for the first time at the end of the forum, I am not alone. Oh well - I'm sure Bret will figure it out in his "spare" time :)

 2:24 am on Jun 7, 2002 (gmt 0)

Okay, after posting that message, it took me back to the "last" message in the thread - #75 - so I could not see my post. So I hit the "Reply" button again, and was able to scroll down through all of the posts, inluding my own (#109).

Hope this helps, Brett - reply via sticky if more info is needed since I can't see the thread :)

 2:49 am on Jun 7, 2002 (gmt 0)

No matter how many threads "show" on some topics, I can't see them. This thread shows 21 replies, 15 of which I can view:

My last two posts failed, unless I did something wrong and got banned. I hope not.
Here is my third attempt to post.

Brett - Just got back and checked this Bug thread again. As before, my posts are set to 25. When I enter this forum, but before I enter the thread, the number of posts on the Bug thread shows as 112, but the number of pages shows as 4. When I enter the thread, the number of pages shows as 5 and I can read all messages. So, things are getting better.

I've been working on the thread split mechinism tonight. Thanks for the patience.

That's the trouble with bug fixing - fix one, cause unknown new one.

Doesn't show unless you are logged in.
