Is there any way currently or in the future where other wmw members can be seen as logged on or not logged on? Just wondering.

Try clicking on 'recent posts' that may give you an idea.

Privacy concerns are first and foremost so I doubt it will occurr. If it does, there will be the option for users to be "invisible" - which will default to on.

I have noticed that, but I was just wondering if is showed on a different screen. Thanks for the posts - so far.

Thank you very much Brett. That is a good piece of info. Am I the only one who has wondered about this? Keep me posted on these occurances! Thanks!

I post in a music forum that lists the people who have posted in the last 15 minutes... This wouldn't be too bad... Listing everyone logged on might be going a little too far though...

ooooh no.

i wouldn't like it at all.

plus what is the value, recent posts show who's actively online.

... i have opera open pretty much 24/7 - this computer never sleeps
logged on to wmw in the background, even if i'm too busy to drop in and look around... it would look like i don't do anything but hang out here (if only i could - it would beat "working")

I don't see how it would be useful enough to anyone to justify the use of system resources on the servers.

I see it on other boards. From the outside, it appears that many of the regulars keep theirs in stealth mode even if they're on site. My hunch is that's what would happen here.

>resources

I certainly wouldn't want to sacrifice any speed.

This sounds like a perfect application for instant messaging. Start building your buddy's list....

What would be pretty interesting would be to see the numbers online at any given time and inwhich forums they are active in.

Something like the way that pogo.com do it.

But this would be a huge ask I am sure!

Hey pete, good to 'see' you again.

>numbers online at any given time and inwhich forums they are active in.

There are those lurking here who would love to get that information, and it wouldn't be so they could promote WebmasterWorld. Capiche?
