syntax highlighting and text indent
long overdue, when will this be implemented over here?

I love this site, I have never ever learned this much from a community as I have here, but somehow I feel that a site so focussed on the web and internet in general should really have code syntax highlighting and should keep text indents intact, certainly for the sections of the forums which focus on programming languages.

I'm convinced I am not the only one here. I think it would help the members new to coding a lot, as far as readability goes.
It would also make it easier for people trying to help others to spot those pesky little coding errors.

So my question basically is: when is this due? :)

I agree. The general idea here at WW is to focus on content - in other words, simplicity and no frills, which is why other common forum elements such as avatars, images, and signatures aren't included. (For which Brett has my undying gratitude!) But indents and syntax highlighting fall under the category of "functionality" as far as I'm concerned. At the very least, indents should be possible. It's almost impossible to make sense out of HTML or PHP snippets of any length without indents.

if it is simplicity this site is after, that is all the more reason to implement a more up-to-date parsing routine for the [ code ] UBB tag or maybe even add a [ PHP ] UBB tag, along with some others :)

at the very least indeed, we need text indents
