You may have been surprised the first time you heard that Martha Stewart signed a deal with NBC to host a reality show, just after her release from prison.

You may find it even more shocking that Martha Stewart's next apprentice just might be an SEM/SEO and Webmaster World member.

My sister recognized the contestant David Karandish on TV from WebmasterWorld New Orleans, and immediately directed me to the show's official website to confirm.

The website biography lists David's occupation as the owner of an internet advertising company.

David, we wish you luck as Martha's future apprentice, and hope you reply to this thread.

Yes, we met him down in New Orleans. We wish him the best! We will not reveal his member name out of privacy considerations.

Poor David got removed from the show last night.

Too bad, we were all pulling for him.

Did you hear his sales pitch (to get the job) in the end?
He mentioned that Martha's site was nowhere in the SEs for "recipes", and if he took over the internet division, he would fix it.

Martha's sidekick (don't know his name) seemed impressed :)

For those who don't watch the show, they had a bunch of business meetings with celebrities, including Merv Griffin, and he spent the whole time during these meetings with his nose buried firmly in his laptop "taking notes".

yes his sales pitch got them thinking, you could see that their tone changed, ...

I think he is the only one that might "actually" get hired. Congrads.

I think Brett's nudging a little "peer pressure" - but yes, I would love to hear from David and his experience on the show - was wonderful to hear about an SEO on the show.

As I watched last night's show while he was in on the interview with Merv G - it made me think; that's all of us (most of us) sitting with our laptops taking notes and strategizing.

*Side Note -
I am not sure if it was in here or another board but someone was slamming his site (lack of IBLS) I wonder what Y reports for it now?

Best To You - Good Job David!

I rooted for him from the begining. But the problem is he seemed little Shy & non-aggressive (dont we all, geeks?) and was easily dominated by others in the team .

But his sales pitch got martha's sidekick thinking and even in her letter martha wrote she wanted him to meet with her internet team... Who knows , David may get a juicy SEO/SEM contract from Martha's OmniMedia :)

Taking notes? Sure, he was probably catching up on Foo! ;) Just joking of course - and yes, even just a clue to your nick would be great!

It could be he's under contract to not talk about the show till it's over.

Don't those contestants do rounds with the media right after they are eliminated? If so, he probably won't check this board for quite a while.

BTW, I can't bring myself to watch that show after I saw the first one. Did she tell him "you don't fit in"?

I love this show. She does have class when letting people go.

Her reply to David was something like, " I feel you don't have enough experience to be in this "executive position"...wish you the best of luck. "

This is the first person she seemed to really feel bad that she had to let go. He just wasn't the type of person she was looking for.... FOR THAT POSITION. There are many positions within MSO!

Great Job David, and so glad you had the opportunity to tell them why you were really there!

I found a link to the chipper young lad's website... no idea what his ww name is though... his website is his name .com

Seems he's a black hat cat... or as they say an "aggressive marketer"...

there's a good lesson to learn here - if you are breaking google's rules don't publicize yourself on a tv show and leave a trail pointing back to your sites

Yeah, it's fun following his trail, and all too easy. Matt Cutts actually makes reference to it in his blog.

mixing religion and business are never a good idea. especially when you are criticizing the most popular religion in the country. even if it is backwards and out dated.

David Karandish here. I am still busy in New York finishing up my post elimination TV appearances. The experience was awesome along with the support of the webmaster community that loves this business as much as I do.

Pubcon 10 is in my future and I look forward to seeing you all there. I'll pop into this thread again once Iím back in town and maybe even lay some rumors to rest.

add politics to that. Either way, you're bound to offend 50% of your potential customers

Just looked at his site: not sure if I like the "I'm an entrepreneur," "I make 6 figures" and all that.

I think the entrepreneur/6 figures stuff is from the Apprentice promotional stuff. It's not his take on himself but their take on him.

It was nice meeting you down at PubCon 8 and awesome you will be coming out to Pubcon X Vegas [pubcon.com]!

Maybe we could put you on one of the site review sessions. We could take a look at that [marthastewart.com...] site and see if we could get that thing out of the dumpster :-)
