This will be a old fashion PubCon with one afternoon spent talking shop in the Pub. We expect about 400 people. Food and drink from about 1 to 4pm. PreRegistration required. |
| Thats from the pubcon london site... just wondering, 1pm or 3pm start?

I am really looking forward to this I have been to one before but never as a sponser I look forward to meeting as many WW guys and girls as possible. For anyone who hasnt been the venue is the same as the last London pubcon I attended and its worth going just to see the place itself. Fantastic location for what should be a great day . Mal

GREAT anticipation, here. I'm almost packed already and I don't leave for 48 hours! I missed the last London Conference, (and I do mean I missed it) but I hopoe to make up for it this time. | thought these things went on for days |
| I'm arriving on Monday -- I've got a small amount of business to take care of early in the week, but I want to hang out as much as possible all week long with everybody/anybody who's available. I'm sure the Hilton Olympia has a lounge of some sort that we can use as our informal HQ

Maybe I'm missing something but what's the use of an old fashion [sic] PubCon with one afternoon spent talking shop i.e. three hours to meet people, work out who's worth chatting to, priortising subjects for "power" discussions/doing five minute quick-chats (kinda like speed dating), and having some meaningful conversations with a chosen few? I'm one of Webmasterworld's greatest fans and I'm sure there's more to this than meets my eye. Perhaps somebody could explain.

| I was wondering that. How is it going to be worth my taking a whole day out from my business, and paying about 30 pounds in travel &c. For an informal meeting in a pub? Matt

You'll find out when you get there :) We'll probably meet much longer but if its the same as previous years the drinks will only be free only during that interval. I'll stay in or close to the Olympia Hilton from the 28, unfortunately too late to take part in the Google action over there :( Really looking forward to omeeting you all again!

Haha, Nice Hawkgirl, but how did you know my wife is coming? ;-) Reading this [webmasterworld.com], it's clear that pubcon London is a different bag. Can I safely assume that it is simply a shmooze-fest with other members and sponsors, or is someone at some point going to saying something official at the conf? If so, when? And is it safe to assume that it'll be drinks and greetz until 6ish (official sponsored drinx ending at 4) and then folks head out for a bite? Sorry to ask so many questions, but I am a pubcon n00b. I ask also because I may need to duck out at some point to meet someone...

Some people head off to the hotel and others stick around and get drunk! It really is a mix of what happens. No formal speech, some one gets on a table and shouts out a few thankyou's etc... but its just an informal drink and chat and a chance to talk to a few people who understand what you are talking about :)

It wasn't a bad get together at all (different from its predecessors) but an enjoyable time. It was hot in neoprene though! P.S. If anyone has copies of the photos they took I'd love to host them :)
