>> sweet - someone useful to corner and ply with alcohol
That's if YOU can get out of the corner. ;)
7:38 pm on May 27, 2005 (gmt 0)
I'm really looking forward the event and cannot afford to miss this opportunity for networking and questioning the Google team.
I think I'll start by writing down my questions this weekend.

* Registration is required to atttend
Apparently, whoever made the RSVP page got a head start on the cocktails. ;)

I cant come there :(
Can some one of you please ask my questions to them and let me know what they reply?

I can’t make the Conference due to financial reasons (sites missing from Goggle for 5 months) – so can someone ask the Google Engineers when will those of us who applied for a re-inclusion request get a reply or a solution?

I'd ask about how Google.com wasn't showing at #1 for Google and why Adense was "hijacked".

What do the people who will NOT be attending see as the most pressing issues they'd like to see brought up?
Canonical page confusion?
Support emails that are so vague they might as well come from MS?
4:58 am on May 29, 2005 (gmt 0)
Do they let anyone to this thing or do you have to pass some sort of screening check to eliminate some bad apples first?
I would love to meet some of them. But would they like to meet me?
I am sure I could help them tighten up some loose ends.

I would love to meet some of them. But would they like to meet me?
Yes, they would love to meet you! Imagine the good press for Google when all their fans show up!
Everybody, please be there! Register with Google for that meeting, register with webmasterworld for the main conference, and book your hotel room early!

Well all is a go.
All I am is waiting for a confirmation mail now?
I pray this all goes well for you guys.

Dc71, Google will send you a reminder to attend one week before the event. They are Google, don't expect a personal email. It will probably be the same email, sent to everybody. Just be there!
I'm going the main conference too, link above, the Tuesday-Friday thing, in the same hotel. I've already booked my room.
6:45 am on May 29, 2005 (gmt 0)
ok I signed up where do I pay I have my credit card in my hot little hands?
9:15 am on May 29, 2005 (gmt 0)
this pics thing looks good, there should be one for all conferences. As far as I remember, Brett said in one of his posts about picture galleries, that he is not doing official picture galleries because of some past issues. Someone privately may do it, as long as the people in the pics do not mind.
12:59 am on May 30, 2005 (gmt 0)
Brett is there anything for free to be seen at the conference? I will be spending 5 nights in Charity Hospital around that time with my wife having open heart surgery. I might get to sneak away for a couple of hours toward the end of her recovery. Prayers accepted!

How about a West Coast simulcast?
7:55 am on May 30, 2005 (gmt 0)
I think the Google thing is free, on Tuesday night, bumpaw, if you want to just attend that. 6-8PM in the ballroom of the same hotel.

Not quite correct, you need to have a WebmasterWorld conference badge to attend. ;)

It will be nice having someone go and confront Google with real controversial questions, questions that they avoid addressing on this forum.
12:34 am on Jun 1, 2005 (gmt 0)
It's a cocktail party -- not an inquisition. How long would you stand and speak to someone who was berating you?
9:38 am on Jun 1, 2005 (gmt 0)
The invite says: meet the engineers on specific subjects of interest and relevance
Obviously, re-request inclusion, 302 redirecting, duplicate penalties, and page jacking, subjects that Google is very ambiguous about and make little comment on these forums are not relevant to you.
9:45 am on Jun 1, 2005 (gmt 0)
People appreciate questions that they are able to, and allowed to answer. We often forget that there are humans behind some of the algorithms and bugs in them. ;)
12:25 pm on Jun 1, 2005 (gmt 0)
>>People appreciate questions that they are able to, and allowed to answer.<<
How do you know what questions they (Google) want to answer, can answer, or allowed to answer, until you ask the questions?
2:03 pm on Jun 1, 2005 (gmt 0)
Nobody's going to ask how they will get scrapers under control? It seems like it's the other purple elephant (page jacking is the first) in the room that no one's talking about.
2:07 pm on Jun 1, 2005 (gmt 0)
That would fall under 'less hassle', one of the things Google does want to address. Visitors are hassled by spam in the search results. I would ask about it, but I have other questions planned, more general questions.
It'll be 2 hours of questions and answers and then the cocktail party.
5:42 pm on Jun 1, 2005 (gmt 0)
You can bet your Bourbon _I'm_ going to be asking about 302s and canonical confusion!
I'm respectful of the fact that the Google folks may not be free to answer/address specific items but this is a great opportunity for all to be frank and open about why results and many legitimate sites are suffering so much from the attempts to fix those problems.
If WebmasterWorld discussions are any indication of the importance of these issues to the broader web community I think Google should be very interested.
12:52 pm on Jun 2, 2005 (gmt 0)
Can I get a clarification please? If we rsvp, are we going to get invited? Or is there some sort of review process where invitees<>rsvp's?
3:30 pm on Jun 2, 2005 (gmt 0)
> going to get invited.
no. You have to be a registered attendee to get in.
4:35 pm on Jun 2, 2005 (gmt 0)
"....So ... who is going to play Senator Palpatine with the young Jedis from the plex?...."
Ha - I can just visualise GoogleGuy severing Sergey Brins arm with a lightsabre, then webmasterworld Preferred Member Palpatine, shorts one of the google radios, and hurls poor old Serge out of one of the Googleplex windows in a blaze of electricity.
GoogleGuy bows head - "What have I done!?"
Preferred Member Palpatine - "You did well young one - I will name you Spam Vader - Now follow me to the imperial content cranker with the big yellow button."
9:08 am on Jun 3, 2005 (gmt 0)
Did anybody get some kind of confirmation that the registration form was sent. When I hit the send button all I got was the same page with the information I entered.
