Started new topic in Webmaster General
topic changed mysteriously, my user name gone

I started a topic yesterday in webmaster general. The title was something similar to "Forum causing drop in ranking".

Today when I went into my control panel I find the topic completely changed! I am no longer the starter of the topic. The title is now: "Do other SE's use page rank?" The topic has also been moved to another forum (search engine promotion).

This is the topic: [webmasterworld.com...]

This is the original page where "my" topic was posted:

I have not posted that topic but it still appears in the control panel under My Threads.

Hope somebody can shed some light on this strange story!

A rare and weird "feature" (aka: unfixable bug) of the software when one thread gets moved, just as another thread gets created. There is no fix for this. It is like someone stepping out of line, while someone else steps in and they swap name tags.

The situation only happens about once a month, and even then, it is only noticed about once every 5-6 months as it is nonfatal and semi-trivial.

Your thread was moved off to the Google forum:
