SqueezeCon? lol.

Ya, we are going to wedge one in here before the big #7.

A bunch of us are going to be there anyway, and we were planning a pub crawl when someone said the magic word "conference" - so lets do it!

This thing will probably sell out fast...

You'll recognise me as the most handsome guy in the room... but don't let that put you off talkin to me ok 'cos, like Zappa say's, '... there's more of us ugly mother-lovers than you, so watch out!...'

(What have I done, oh no)

Should I book at the Thistle or Novotel?

Brett, any arrangements being made for transport on Friday or is the pub accessible by the underground?

Can anyone tell me what time the conf. will kick off?

I'm trying to decide whether to book a flight from Ireland the day before and stay overnight, or just fly out on the Friday morning...

i'd say if your in the pub by 3, then all is well

might be well worth having a hotel room for the friday night though, as talk usually goes on till the early hours

I'm not going to PubCon, but I've seen STOMP twice, and it's worth 2x the price of admission. Highly recommended for all.

Any other recommendations?

It might be nice to win a trip to the next PubCon. I'd recommend a random drawing from qualified members.

You folks have a great time.

thats not a bad idea, just adds a little something extra to it all.

Maybe Brett could give away a free-be registration as a free draw prize for the attendee's at Pubcon v6.5 for the biggy later this year!

How late does the post conference 'hotel lobby' session generally go on for these days? I think I managed to stay awake till about 3-4am last time I went and there were still a few people left (I seem to remember Caine was still trying to get drinks even though the bar had closed!)

With 6.5 being a small 'tagged on to SES' event in London and 7 presumably being Western U.S. does this mean that London (Europe) is being phased out as a full release / big event?

I think that Brett had said there is nothing to stop the next Pubcon (7) being held in London. A few optimisers are going to be in London for SES at this time and thats why it has been put together at such short notice and on the last day of the SES event. I don't think that it is nothing to do with stopping the conferences in London at all.

paulrollo,

not the case at all, but one step at a time. This London conference 4th in so many years, is too give Brits and Continetal Europeans the chance to attend a sought after conference - which is one of a kind in this industry. Remember we had Florida, theres plans for another biggy in the West Coast later this year - by popular demand, and the london one.

London 2001
California & London 2002
Boston & London 2003
Florida & London & W. Coast US 2004

The conferences for WebmasterWorld are growing in number, popularity and the planning is now a yearly rotational event for the individuals researching, planning and do-ing them.

UK conferences will keep coming in one form or another.

Which is precisely why they need to be planned and announced atleast 8-10 weeks in advance if not a quarter or two.

Yes, I'm going, and yes, I'll stop complaining right after I've had my first beer in London.

Didn't someone get appointed to "director of conferences" or something like that?

By the looks of things - hang out at the Novotel, talking shop while partaking in a beer or two for Thrusday, Friday, conference Sat, and no doubt an excursion around the clubs dependant on interest and how drunk i am - nah joking.

I'm sure there will be loads to do, Heck its London.

We do some work for a London Hotel and should be able to get a decent rate if anyone is interested....

The owner is obsessed with hygene so it's very clean -4 star. It's also 5 minutes form 2 Tube stops and a train station.

Sticky me if interested

Signed up and ready to go!

Are there any "official" talks being held, or is it just a pub type gathering thing?

Either way, I can't wait. Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Most people are staying in the Novotel then? (Just for clarification)

no "official" anything, just go with the flow, and remember "NO" means NO :)

Novotel, yep, thats the 1
