There are some posts that require the user to login. However, after you've logged in you land on a page that has nothing to do with the post you were interested in. Would it be possible to automatically redirect to the relevant post once you've logged in correctly?

It depends on the browser used and if it caches redirects. Most often, I hear about this particular issue from Opera users that have uncheced, "Always check redirect" under prefs->history cache.
