PubConference V London

 6:23 pm on Jul 23, 2003 (gmt 0)

Webmasterworld is proud to announce PubConference 5! the web marketing and promotion event of 2003, to be held in london England and hosted by WebmasterWorld Members.

You've been hearing about the other Pubcons and last years sold out PubCon London - wishing you had been there right!?
Don't miss this opportunity to open yourself to new methods and strategies for web marketing revealed by the friends and family of WebmaserWorld at PubCon 5!

Saturday September 20th, 2003, 1pm to whenever.

Cittie of Yorke Pub in downtown London England. A great place for a weekend conference. There's been a Pub there since the year 1430.

The main bar is a cavernous mediaeval-style hall with a high vaulted ceiling and everywhere you look there are carved oak panels, ornate metalwork and some of the biggest oak vats you'll ever see above the bar - it's like an elven king's hall out of The Lord Of The Rings. (-professor hardbottle)

The premise is simple, many of our members are qualified to speak at conferences and are bored to tears when attending other ones. So why did we go to them? Just to get to the bar and network with people! The contacts, the associations, the follow ups, and the friendships have been some of the most productive contacts we have ever been part of.

What's in it for me?
The Short scoop? It's your chance to put yourself in the loop with the in marketing crowd (it's probably why you came to this site).

;) TBA

The usual suspects... Thanks to last years crew: AllTheWeb, Position Tech, Inktomi, SearchEngineCommando, Overture UK, Espotting, Yahoo UK

Special Guests? Who will be there?
Everyone who is anyone in European SEO.

Travel - goin mobile:
We've been watching air fares from the US to London since June, and they are as inexpensive right now as they have been all year long!

All funds go directly towards the cost of hosting the event (venue expenses, and the OPEN bar etc..).

Early bird signup until the end of August...

Got Site? Sure:

Boys, be scared of Miriam. She likes to put people in embarassing situations, and she can drink, too. ;-)

 5:43 pm on Aug 1, 2003 (gmt 0)

its NOT Miriam who worries me, its your mutual German friend that scares the living daylights out of me :)

think back to our last evening out

LOL, yes... I certainly do remember.

For all of you coming from the states, Australia, ... you might think of going to the Oktoberfest in Munich, which starts at this weekend. (September 20 to October 5 [oktoberfest.de...] )

 12:11 pm on Aug 4, 2003 (gmt 0)

Finally decided when to go: Wednesday :)
Leave on Monday, Thristle Islington.

I'm going to play tourist: try to spend at least one day in the British Museum and visit the Aquarium.

> But there must be somebody else on this board that has to attend the Austin City Music Festival

Can't - PubCon is more fun!

Besides, the ACL Fest last year was SOOOO hot. I got way too dehydrated way too fast. They need to hold it in October, for cryin' out loud.

Hopefully you'll have better luck with the parking/shuttle bus situation this year. ;)

 11:57 pm on Aug 4, 2003 (gmt 0)

So, who's gonna show us London newbies around?
(I'll show you the best bars on your next trip to Malta ;)

 12:30 am on Aug 5, 2003 (gmt 0)

Just signed up. I will be arriving on the Friday evening. I am a PubCon newbie, so take pity on me if you see me walking around the hotel looking very lost. It cost me 160 for the two nights (190 on Expedia!)

I get the impression that I will be the odd one out, given that I am teetotal :-( But, I intend to rack up some serious Coke drinking stories for next year's pre-PubCon board.

Nope, plenty of those around...

Correct me if I'm wrong, a certain Mod maybe? As well as others?

 1:53 am on Aug 5, 2003 (gmt 0)

I'm a massive Red Bull drinker, so I can definitely try and get more 'caffeine drunk' than you if you want! :-)

 4:07 am on Aug 5, 2003 (gmt 0)

I am a tee totaller as of 4 months ago - but if anyone can get me off the wagon it will be Pubcon :)

 9:39 am on Aug 5, 2003 (gmt 0)

(: ... can't make this one but am planning on the next one in sunny Florida! (Has to be warmer than Boston was!)

The Sunday (21st) is my birthday ... and its a big one, so I will likely be hung over like the rest of you. I'll down several aspirin and toast all of you with a hair or two of the dog! :)

Have a great one everyone!

 9:57 am on Aug 5, 2003 (gmt 0)

leaving the drink bit aside, as that in my opinion is 2nd on the list for this great get2gether,

#1 is the community spirit and for that no alcohol etc is required.

TeeTotal, lots of those about including a few mods, and many members, just be prepared for lots of Coffee and Tea.

As for newbies, no problemo, lots of those around, and no doubt you shall be a non-newbie within an hour.

> This'll make me 5 for 5

Same here. Can't be many who've done 5 for 5. Add your name to the list!

RC, Mike Mackin, Mivox, Seth, Agerhart (though Boston was a fleeting visit) any more?

 10:16 am on Aug 5, 2003 (gmt 0)

I'll stick to coffee, tea and orange juice. Glad to see I'm not the only one - I got that impression last year :). Please make sure we'll have enough of the latter :)

 8:16 am on Aug 6, 2003 (gmt 0)

A bit late maybe; but both myself and my brother Lars will be there. Really looking forward to this folks...

 9:11 pm on Aug 6, 2003 (gmt 0)

I'm there

 9:42 pm on Aug 6, 2003 (gmt 0)

"RC, Mike Mackin, Mivox, Seth, Agerhart"

I'm actually 3 for 4 (didn't make it to the very first one). Hopefully I'll be 4 for 5 but I still have a few things to take care of before I finalize the travel plans..

Welcome to WebmasterWorld moreIdeas!
Bravo for you for your first post and for signing up to attend. Not too many new-comers have that much courage. Glad you decided to come along.

In retrospect - I talk like I'm a long-standing member of the family but in reality I'm as much a new-comer as the many who vocalized it. This is only my second Pubcon and my first time outside of Heathrow. My eyes will be as big as dinner plates as I step off the plane. But I look forward to meeting many of you.

Wont be staying in the hotel though, I am only in Essex so I will be in London for most of the weekend :)

 12:36 am on Aug 11, 2003 (gmt 0)

I gotta say, I'm really surprised the 300 hasn't run out yet!
