I came across a new search engine on snif.ch. Beta Version. Not many features and Results are not too good. They seem to have their own Cache. I haven't had any referrers yet, even though my results make up most of the Top Ten Results on most of my focussed Keywords. Just found their spider in my Logfile yesterday.

They seem to limit their search to ".ch" Domains. There is no Submit Page.

Design looks a bit googley.. especially the page numbers.

Also a bit strange that a Search Engine with Focus on German has great Problems with Umlaut. They must have just adapted some English Technology.

Thanks for the heads up Onza.

I took it for a spin and my initial thought was; their database is quite small. Only a fraction of pages coming up on a search that yields 1,000's of results on ATW.

>They seem to limit their search to ".ch" Domains

Yeah they say on the front page:
It will be based on all .ch sites.

All is quite a bold statement - haven't checked though ;)

Oh well, it's still a beta so let's see what comes out of it in the future. Do you havew any idea of their background, who runs it and 'why'?

I tried searching for this 'Midnight Tech' but couldn't find anything.

Onza, what is the IP (or agent) of their spider?

<added>switch.ch gives a bit info on the domain.</added>

I've checked my log file, it also visited me (11 hits, first on May 20th), but it seems to have trouble with asp pages, although I have found some in the index.

And it looked for the robots.txt, which is always good.
