PPC in Italy
Godado.it - it's bigger than we thought

Godado.it listings appear on supereva.it, and Kataweb.it

Supereva has 2.826.000 unique visits, with a reach of 36.7%,
Kataweb does 1.275.000 uniques, making for a reach of 16.5% [godado.it...]

Godado.it also has just started providing results for websearch at gsmbox.it, a large (the largest?) Italian mobile portal.

Where do Godado.it's serps come from? Own db with submitted sites back up by Mamma.com results..(?)

> Where do Godado.it's serps come from?

They show to be powered by Northern Light; unfortunately it is difficult to verify it now.

Hmm - I saw the logo: powered by Northernlight. It's on all Godado sites. But then I saw some results in there, which I do not believe are in NL's db.

>mamma.com see this
[godado.it...]

a direct comparison between mamma.com and godado, options set on worldwide search, bring different serps.

Anybody?

They state here [godado.it] that Godado pulls its serps from 2 databases:
1) advertisers (Godado PPC)
2) mamma.com

And that the first serps are from advertisers, followed by mamma.com ones.

This said, direct comparisons actually bring serps which are presented in a different order. I even found some whacks where Godado returns no results while mamma.com does.

Hi Ettore I did the cross comparison mamma.com/godado.it too and couldn't quite match serps. Also I haven't figured out the Northern Light connection yet.

Do you have experiences using goddo PPC?

Hi heini.

Yes, I often include Godado in my promotion plans for clients. Traffic was already good even before they partnered with Supereva and Kataweb.

They have a well-working system for setting up campaigns, a clear and easy-to-work-with bidding system (minimum investment of 100 Euros and minimum Bid of 0.05 Euros), and a wonderful keyword stats lookup (useful for determining Italian trends even if you don't plan to use Godado), which can be found here [godado.it].

A big plus, they have a superb *human* help/consultancy service for subscribers.

Hey ettore, great find on Godado.
We love free online keyword tools :)
Thanks for sharing.

>NorthernLight
After digging around some more I found this:
Godado.it serps are pure NorthernLight. No idea why they state on their site secondary listings, meaning secondary to their own PPC listings, are drawn from mamma.com.
Mamma.com apparently had provided results, but starting in March last year a partnership with NorthernLight is in effect.
Italian only searches as well as worldwide all deliver NL results.
Here's some background info [cl02.cyperus.fr]

Another partner for Godado.it: www.ilnuovo.it [ilnuovo.it]
A newsportal(?) it appears, with a new Godado searchbox on the front page.
Can't really say how big this is...?

Next big partner for Godado.it:
Iltrovatore.it [iltrovatore.it]
italian search engine plus directory.
Godado PPC listings appear at the top of Italian searches, marked as sponsored links.
Have no stats on Iltrovatore's reach in Italy - anybody?

Hi Heini

iltrovatore.it has a very low reach in Italy (about 2%); ilnuovo.it is a well known italian "online only" newspaper, but when italian users have to search, they prefer google, arianna, virgilio, yahoo instead of a small "search box" on a newspaper.
2 weeks ago I spoke with the marketing manager of one of the biggest e-shops in Italy; he said godado is not a good web traffic or sales driver and that google's adwords select and premium sponsorship are the best choice if you want to advertise on search engines. And this is my opinion, too.
Godado.it is establishing many partnerships this year... espotting is still coming to Italy... perhaps godado's investors want to sell it to espotting:-)))

Thanks Marlog - my feeling too: Godado must try to make as many partnerships as possible before Espotting arrives.
Espotting will have Lycos and Yahoo already, so Godado has no choice but cut as big a slice of the market as possible while they can.

>Google adwords
Well - you don't get on the big portals with adwords...

Godado's big new: if you want to use their "keywords look-up", now you have to pay.
How much? 1.500 Euro/month!
WOW

1500 Euro?

What a bargain...

Yep. And I assure you that all Italian SEOs I had occasion to talk with are laughing out loud. There are jokes about their writing it wrong in the page, and that 15.00 Euros would already be a quite high price...

They will not get a single client to pay this kind of money!
