Why don't we reveal the editors names and the area that is giving us the trouble
Why don't we reveal the categories that we are having trouble with? Not just say I am having difficulty trying to get into a shopping area say something like
Example
Top: Shopping: Food: Gifts
Tried to add my site to it 20 times
Only to receive no reply for 90 days and not show up. Here is my URL........ And then after a few of us get together and write that particular editor. Maybe he or she will get the hint to add it in. Any comments? Fed-up and Aggravated

What good will anything you suggest above really do?

It will get people the (little guys) an edge on all the big companies with the big bucks to pay for advertising. DMOZ is I think one of the best places to be added to for free.

DMOZ had it's time, but now it is becoming a nonfunctional org. It's light will continue to dim and fade away to black. Its like seeing an old friend die, but not being able to do anything about it.

The place to do that is within ODP itself.

This forum is for discussion about problems, tips, and information that is helpful to other members.

From our charter [webmasterworld.com]: Any specific questions about sites should be taken up through proper ODP channels. We are not the ODP help desk.

That may be one of your problems.

FountainFreak this is how I approuch DMOZ. Imagine it it a collection of your Bookmarks/Favourites, would you add your site? Or to put it another way, is the site in question better than what is already listed, does it stand out, does it shine?

Only really an option if you're an editor (as far as I'm aware). Are there any other options?

Other than going up the tree mailing other editors.

Thank you all for writing. For ShXXX and Giggles this is my site [art-fountains.com...] that I wanted to add to the following category. Do any of you think it is appropriate to be there. Help

Top: Shopping: Home and Garden: Water Gardens: Fountains (20)

The key to getting listed in the ODP is unique content. Multiple sites with identical information do not each constitute unique content. If one such site is already listed in the most appropriate category, submitting the others as well is considered spam.

But then, you already knew that. Someone please remind me again why we don't reveal the names of former ODP editors who seem to have been kicked off the directory for self promotion? ;)
