ODP and Google

 8:19 pm on Mar 19, 2001 (gmt 0)

I just did a search in the box on Dmoz.org's main page and an SERP from Google appeared.

I re-searched for the same keyword phrase on Dmoz and a ODP SERP page appeared.

Are they rotating the SERP's between Google and Dmoz? Or is it only on a few popular search terms?

I have seen that before and it only occassionaly shows up, couldn't find anything to show a pattern.

I _think_ that when the ODP search function is having a bad moment, it jumps you over to google's search rather than leave you with nothing for your efforts. It's transient and nothing to worry about.

For the record but totally off topic (or engine), I've been picking up Google, ODP, and other serps at AV while trying to make sense of the ghastly mess they have over there.

It looks as though some lunatic has decided to use these things as doorways and has spammed the engines left, right, and center.

Not that it would have any effect on AV. Their results still look as though they haven't got over the party held to herald the opening of their drunken submissions page.

As far as relevance goes, they've yet to enter the new millennium.

Way to go, AV! Embarass the hell out of all those who've supported you over the years by sinking into a depraved lethargy leading to extinction by inertia.

>>Took me about three months to work out what they were on about<<

It's not in the glossary.
