Directories for PR or Presence

Msg#: 2716 posted 2:16 pm on Apr 22, 2006 (gmt 0)

I was wondering whether to buy a few directory spots for the PR, but am worried about all this banning from Search engines stuff eg: Buy bad links - and get banned for it.

I noticed a few directory/portal sites, er when I visited them, on the toolbar instead of a black line denoting PR - these had grey? Is that bad?

Please advise.

They are probably so new Google has yet to index them I get dozens of SPAM each month of "important bushiness directory" bragging how they listed my PR5 site and now I'm suppose to place a link to them... never mind the fact that they got zero or no PR. ;-))

If you have some useful unique content on your site check Wikipedia and you can add few lines and list your own site as source but beware not to place your keywords because Wikipedia will always take first spot from you. ;-)

hmmmm Wikipedia - nice site and all that, but a nightmare to navigate and probably too much moderation when adding articles and sites etc.

Not for me - Thanks anyway.

As far as i know grey is an indicator of temporary banuntill you fix up something in the code, its better than black colour ban

k - thanks, I won't take the chance because if said site is banned, it's unlikely to deliver as no PR, and questions might be raised as to 'why' it's banned.
