Hi,

We have been listed in dmoz for over 6 years now.
The url is causing us a problem for google we think as it is listed without the www causing us duplicate penalties in google.
This has not been a problem until last october.
I have submitted the site for change but there is no editor for this category. What else can we do?

Beck.

You got the official answer in Resource Zone two days ago.

Set up a 301 redirect from non-www to www.

Send in an update request for the original listing, if you want, but the ODP automated internal checks will pick up the 301 redirect within a few months anyway.

What kind of response is that? If you don't know, just remain silent. You shouldn't be referring people to other forums and you don't know that this poster goes to that other forum.

That depends on if someone turns up here with the same story, same numbers, and same username...

There is no "referring people to other forums", just reminding them they have already been there and had the definitive, final, expert opinion direct from the source.

Does WebmasterWorld really need a rehash of something already done to death elsewhere? Rehashing it here just gives more troll food to the ODP bashers.

>>What kind of response is that?<<

It's a valid response to the same person as the other forum. I refrained from mentioning the several other co-incedental appearances of the same question in a few other SEO forums - since in those cases the name is different.

It's called cross-posting, and should be discouraged, along with another activity called thread hijacking.

Yes. WebmasterWorld is a stand-alone forum. What happens elsewhere is irrelevant, especially at that resource zone website, which isn't a forum but a question and answer board.

I hope you are not implying that I was thread hijacking. You're the one who hijacked with some non-answer that belittled the OP.

Podman.

Are you always this unpleasant or do you have to practice at it.

It was a simple question my friend, and for your information i did not visit the threads in question, and which forum?

Please put your brain into gear before you type.

I may be direct and to the point in my answers, but would never be so rude as to make insulting statements like that.
