dmoz.org won't list a lot of the best directories because they are too commercial and loaded with affiliate links. Try checking the backlinks on the directories that you know about. You should be able to find some links pages with lists of directories.

Good tip by Slowmove. Look at the backlinks of your competitors also in Alltheweb (and other engines) and see what directories are linking to them! After all a lot of directories dont give you the html link you are probably looking for but if they are in the search engines on a backwards link count then the SE recognize the link.
