I just learned of the http://www.firehunt.com "The Web's Blazing Portal". It definately returns results very quickly!

It has some unique features The left sidebar is used to display possibly-related search categories to your search. Sometimes it misinterprets a search, and the sidebar is suddenly full of sex-related categories. The categories themselves seem to be based on web popularity.

Does anyone know how to submit a site to this portal?

It looks to be just another FindWhat affiliate.

Neither Firehunt nor FindWhat are search engines that I can see anyone really wanting to use, both sets of results are abysmal.

But they do deliver different results
[findwhat.com ]
and
[firehunt.com ]

It is fast.
I think it rotates between findwhat and overture when returning results.

It is interesting how these "directories" choose the MONEY terms to list on there indext page. It becomes a "good example" of core KWs not to bid on.

I would love to get the code to do what he/she is doing. Especially dragging in the news stories. MMMMmmm, I bet Google would slap you if you tried to include their results in sites like this...
