Hey, that is pretty cool. I wouldn't mind getting the 1st prize on that one. :) Has anybody else seen traffic from them? Since the new look, I've gotten more clicks out of Hotbot than Altavista, (not saying much, but still - people are using it). With all those databases at the easy click of a mouse to access, perhaps Hotbot might gain some ground with techies...though, I still can't tear myself away from Google proper. This does make it tempting to switch though.

It will be interesting to see if anyone can make one of the ugliest logos on the web look any better by changing its surrounding environment. ;)

creativity is so overrated it should be: 50% Usability 30% Aesthetics 20% Creativity Judging is wack so don't expect to win even if you have the best design...

hmmm..... disappointing that it's open to US citizens only. is this another case of "US people don't seem to realise that there is intelligent life outside the USA"? if they don't open the competition to non-US citizens or set up another competition for the regional engines (ie, hotbot.co.uk for UK people) then i'm going to boycott hotbot.

Clearly they are learning; Total prizes probably cost them 3,000USD and they get hundreds of ideas and the winners lose any rights to their work.

crazy, It may not be the ameri-centric view you think they have, and perhaps it may have just turned out to be a lot easier legally to have a US instead of international competition. If you are that interested, I'll submit your designs for you, because it is my God given birthright as an American to be able to do so. :) I'll even give you the prize.
