This is really a major improvment. I tried some searches and is seems quite a bit faster than the previous version. The new layout is also much more appealing in my opinion.

Nice. I'm a bit confused which search engines are used?
Was there in the past an option to choose (opt in/out) which search engine to choose?

On the advanced functions...I mean when you search with the expert mode, you can search with all the search engines we interrogate (most relevant results are calculated by our algorithm), or you can select the search engines you want to interrogate.
Thanks for your interest,

nice work kartoo!
no i cant see where to choose search engines too, but the standard is always the best to evaluate by as it is what most people would use.
it seems the engines used for me (using search the web, not uk sites only) are Espotting, Total Quebec, AV and Hotbot. But it mat be different for different people.
Curious mix of SE databases but the results look great to me.

Interrogated search engines are not always the same ones...depends on the algorithm. As you have seen, main sponsored links are displayed out of the screen of results...this is a question of relevancy of our results. On the menu Top Sites, you will find the most relevant sites without any sponsored links.

I thought I saw an espotting result in the main map in one of my queries. Maybe i was wrong.
However, there is not the mass of ppc that i saw in the main map several months back. KArtoo does a great job of relevancy now.

In some results, you can find sponsored links on the map, but relevancy is always respected.

You really need to make it a bit clearer how to choose which search engines to look at and how to get to the option in the first place. You are presuming that the bog standard web user knows that they should click in the top right hand corner (which there is no explanation for) text popping up when you go over an icon in order to choose all or some of the search engines. I'm fairly well trained on the internet but it still took me a bit of working out which I did but only through a bit of trial and error.
I've been a bit critical there since I really like what you have done. Did you choose flash 5 for any reason over the newer mx?

The expert mode...with all the options will change. When you'll click on EXPERT MODE, you'll have all the advanced functions. Concerning Flash5 instead of MX, it was a choice of our R&D team.
My best regards,

I absolutely love Kartoo!
It's creativity and design has no comparison.
Thank you for being a search engine who's NOT part of the "turn the 'net back to text" crusade.
Keep up the relevancy, in the end results win.

Actually Kartoo, to me personally, is the best application of flash Ive seen.
Kartoo4you - FYI:The Help link is getting a 404

Always impressive and keeps getting better.
But I keep getting lost after I drill down and find it a bit non-intuitive to get back to my previous searches (or 'up' or whatever you want to call it). Would or can you consider unhiding some of the more often used items such as 'previous searches' and 'display historical review...' buttons?
All in all, really great stuff.

I really like playing with this tool... you could do with a more catchy domain name though, IMO :)
