Looks like they were hacked, and why is the "contact us" link going to a hotmail address?

...meaning to say are you all submitting your home page or each individual URL of a site

They were not hacked. Try searching for "<big>Hello out there!</big>" and you will see the reason. Simple programming will fix the bug.

It matches matts, Whois address [searchengineworld.com].
Looks like he needs to filter the search display on the home page ;)

added a few not-very-important sites to see what happens. no instant spidering but sites added to the queue.
had trouble getting one site added - it just didnt do anything at all. no idea why for that one domain ....

Seems to be having some trouble... very slow. But it said it spidered one of my sites successfully. Not sure what to think... very lethargic though.

Wow. That was fast! Less than one minute after adding my url I suddenly appeared in the search engine results with all pages being spidered.
To brotherhood-of-lan: I think you need to only submit your index earl because everything else from my site showed in the results almost instantly.
It spidered all my links and I am literally watching the number of sites for my keywords grow: first all the sites I linked to then the sites they linked to . . ..
3:17 am on Mar 16, 2002 (gmt 0)
Looks too dirty for my likings... need more sites in it. The majority of sites spidered looks to be porn... I guess its win win...

The last 5 queries thing is interesting and just for fun I searched for:
"Why's it SO pink?"
I was just testing the filter :)
I wonder who searched for "psychidelic wallpaper" :)

I notice that it spots mirror sites and labels them as such.
8:07 am on Mar 16, 2002 (gmt 0)
As far as I can see it says mirror on everything.
8:18 am on Mar 16, 2002 (gmt 0)
hmm thats nice. already on it!
"mirror" i think means "cache" - not a mirror domain.

Haven't seen anything that fast for a loooong time. Instant spidering and, importnatly, instant addition to the db.
I wish them good luck.
9:13 am on Mar 16, 2002 (gmt 0)
It's great, but only took 30 pages on the first site I submitted, then stopped and wouldn't take some other sites I submitted. Maybe it gives you a cookie and limits you to 30 pages. Anyone else get more pages in?
Anyway, it's too good to be true ... instant spidering and instant inclusion of at least some pages.
9:22 am on Mar 16, 2002 (gmt 0)
.4 million pages and counting fast ... look at the spider dates on the serps .... they've just turned this thing on!
10:55 am on Mar 16, 2002 (gmt 0)
Looks like readers of this threazd have 150,000 pages.
11:01 am on Mar 16, 2002 (gmt 0)
hang on guys.. is anybody gonna use this thing :) Seeing FAST Teoma and Wisenut only give us dribs and drabs after many months and good rankings, how much will this one deliver?
11:08 am on Mar 16, 2002 (gmt 0)
I actually saw it read "0 full pages indexed" some time ago, then 35,000, the 43,000, and so on. It has been climbing steadily ever since. I suspect this is not the full database, but perhaps pages spidered "today". Even so, it is quite an achievement.
The algo needs some serious tweaking though.

Just discovered some stuff about Gigablasts previous life as a flash game site. There are some links pointing at gigablast.com/blast/shootemup.swf which no longer contains the game but a rather worrying redirect. Perhaps all is not as it seems at Gigablast. Still there is some amusement to be had by having conversations through the last 5 queries feature!

If nothing else, they are collecting a very clear sample of WebmasterWorld Member's SItes. Scary huh! Maybe they should rename to WmWBlast...
11:30 am on Mar 16, 2002 (gmt 0)
Well, last night it hat 1+billion pages listed on the front. I'd guess they pretty much have all our sites id'd ;)
11:36 am on Mar 16, 2002 (gmt 0)
100000+ pages in 30 minutes... that was quick. If someone could write a program that "searches" for a particular term over and over every milli-second their site would be up at Gigablast's frontpage! ;)
12:07 pm on Mar 16, 2002 (gmt 0)
oops.. a search for "webmaster world" comes up with some wmw. org rip off then "The World Guppy Association"..
12:27 pm on Mar 16, 2002 (gmt 0)
Reading that "About" page it sounds like sales copy. Looks like either this search engine is for sale or the programing is for sale.
12:46 pm on Mar 16, 2002 (gmt 0)
This is good all my sites have already been spidered. I didn't have to do anything. ... Great spider.
1:09 pm on Mar 16, 2002 (gmt 0)
never mind the quality for the moment,
what a blast, what a delight and satisfaction to have an easy, direct and free 'add url' at a search engine with real time full spidering !
You forget what it could be in a perfect SE world, with getting used to waiting one month to be spidered and another to be indexed, or paying $299.- just to have your homepage listed.
1:23 pm on Mar 16, 2002 (gmt 0)
That "last 5 queries" thing sucks. It should be removed. It is open to any kind of exploitation (images, redirects etc), and, although kind of fun, makes the front page feel really amateurish.
1:25 pm on Mar 16, 2002 (gmt 0)
And also, that redirect thing mentioned in one of the above posts is well dodgy as well...
