In general, how long does it take to get into Excite, and what is the probability of getting a pretty well designed site in there? Thanks, all info is wanted.

Hi Klaw,

I'm not sure how long it takes to get into excite. I submitted some new sites to excite 4 weeks ago and have not yet been indexed.

Make sure you have the following:
* Focus on one KW per page
* Use keyword text links wherever possible
* KW in title tag (3rd or 4th)
* Link popularity is very important
* If possible, KW in domain name
* KW in headline tags
* Home pages get higher rankings, so optimize the index
* Keywords in bold
* KW density: 3-7%

Hope this helps. Good luck!

I think getting into LookSmart is a major factor in getting into Excite these days. Some crawling of old domains has been recurrent but LookSmart seems to be the open door.
