Alltheweb - What's it worth?
alltheweb all the web

Hi, I'm a coder/copy-writer who's been put in charge of our SEO accounts. I've found that the last guy usually did monthly spreads with rankings reports from Google API, Yahoo, MSN, AskJeeves and AllTheWeb.

I'm ok with having AskJeeves as the oddball on there but I don't know what AllTheWeb was good for . . . Care to enlighten me, anyone?

I am not sure exactly how valuable high rankings in AlltheWeb but I do know that fewer people are treating AlltheWeb as a distinct search engine due to the fact Yahoo purchased them as noted at [pandia.com...]

You can view their traffic information (according to alexa) at [alexa.com...]

You can also view a search engine market share chart at [battellemedia.com...]

As you can see, Ask is at the bottom with about 5% which doesn’t make AlltheWeb seem extremely impressive...

Thanks, Nathan . . . And, wow, that AOL share is a lot more than what's represented in my stats - maybe that means I should look into that.

No problem!

Yeah, AOL seems to have Ask beat for the time being. With Ask’s recent acquisition and search related developments they may not be last on that chart forever.
