Excite submission
how many at a time?

How many pages can I submit to Excite per day before they declare spam?

Also, has Excite been indexing pages? I have one really old page indexed from about a year ago and can't get anything new in. I've been submitting regularly for the past 6 weeks. I don't remember how many at a time but possibly it was too many.

10 per ip, but that isn't the problem. The problem is getting excite to actually index the site.

Thanks Brett. Do you know what criteria they look at for indexing? Is it just random?

Meta, one of the criteria appears to be where you host (geographically that is)

As a rule of thumb, we host our clients sites in the states and canada. Always struggled to get sites hosted locally(africa) into Excite's database. Spiders struggle to get across the trans-atlantic link.

Probably one criteria which has no relevance.

Kamikase, I have it as the first of June but to be honest - I have not kept my eye on that ball.

Have noticed that the same pages already listed have shuffled around a bit in the results - BUT thats not telling you anything new.

Was told they were prefering to spider sites themselves without submission and this would continue for awhile. Also said it was ok to submit any index page but anything else would get buried.

I have been trying to get my site listed with them since June 15th. I don't kow how long it takes and I guess no one else does either. Should I keep submitting my url everyday. Does that hurt? I don't want to get banded from being listed with them.

Architext Excite's spider has crawled everything on my sites (and all links) this weekend for the first time since March! I have been submitting main URLs only on a monthly basis and relied on site maps to do the job of picking up all other pages.

IMHO resubmitting daily is not a good idea to any SE but bi-weekly or monthly if not listed is OK.

As for not appearing yet - I'd practically given up on Excite doing anything again - but 5 months later Architext has gobbled the lot. Now how long to be indexed?
