Links from Yahoo listed websites?

 1:36 pm on Dec 5, 2002 (gmt 0)

I have bought and started studying a popular SE e-book on methods to use to score high in the SE.

In this book it says that inbound links from websites listed in Yahoo directory are much better links than links from sites that are not in the directory.

Does anyone know if this is correct and if so would I be best asking websites for recipricol links in the part of the directory that is releated to my site? or would any links from sites in the yahoo directory work the same?

Any thoughts would be appreciated,

If this theory regarding yahoo listings are better links is true. Would this also apply to dmoz.org.

Dont spend half your life worrying about whether you get a yahoo or dmoz listing they can take time. True they are important in kickstarting a site but they are not all there is. You are right to try and build some decent links inbound. Get them from related sites so that they are on topic. Provide good content and you will get links without even asking.

If your site is a new one with relatively few inbound links be careful who you link to. Check to see if they are using dodgy techniques like hidden text and spam. If you link to them and they "get busted" you may lose some of your overall rank.

So Choose Wisely as Indiana Jones was once told.
