Something that has interested me for a while now is the idea of writing reviews on the links listed on my website. It's all well and good gathering numerous links for a site, but does enough thought go into the way the links are structured and displayed.
I've read articles on writing reviews for links and think I just about understand the thinking behind it i.e. from a PR and usability aspect, but what I find most interesting is the possibility of having reciprocal link partners link back to me twice. One link to my home page and one link pointing to the review page.
If I had 20 websites with high PR link to me, and if they had a link to the review of their site on my review page then in effect this could count as double the amount of links. Or could it?
Could I even benefit from this sort of set up or would it only do me harm in the long run?
It's possible that you could get 2 links back, but as far as Page Rank considerations are concerned, I've read some differing opinions with regard to individual pages for reviews of sites. There is PR distribution within a site to consider, and where outbound links are placed can definitely have an effect.
Thanks Marcia for pointing out those discussions. Iím very excited about the discussion going on right now about One Page One Link [webmasterworld.com]?.
I like the idea of a review for a link and think itís a great strategy that could lead to a very effective campaign. Iíve been thinking of doing one myself only reversed. I would love to judge a sites linking strategy and comment on that. Once I get my blogger going I might just explore that.
To answer your question junior I see no potential harm from the information you provided here and would only caution that you create a plan first that youíve really thought out and then stick to it and take care of it.
