Is a seperate subdomain better for a link link directory.
using link.mysite dot com instead of mysite dot com/links/

Most of us use reciprocal liks to try to get some IBL's coming in, however, Mr. Cutts says that recip's aren't what they used to be, and the the BigDaddy alg pretty much consideres two sites linking to each other kindof like cancelling each other out.

I know there is still some merit to recip's, but I wanted to try something different.

What if I created a true blue directory at a subdomain of my site, like links.mysite dot com instead of the usual sub folder like mysite com/links? As I understand it, the big three might consider the subdomain as a new site. I'd still be providing a link location, linked from my homepage, associated with my site, and even be albe to roll it up to a brand new service, and actually provide a good source of links for the recip's.

Does this sound like a good idea, or would the SE's not feel to kindly on the matter.
