Is it risky to quickly remove links?

I have a site that recently may have been penalized for getting too many links too fast. I want to remove the links.

I'm a little concerned that this will raise a flag as well. What do you think?

I have a similar problem with a website I developed recently. I suggest that you do not remove the links and simply be patient in order to get out of the sandbox (if this is your penalty) and then enjoy that links.

By removing the links I do not think you will avoid sandbox and you may loose your good rankings afterwards as well.

Just my 2 cents

Removing the links will not have any effect.

But if you have found that certain links do not need to be on your site, then remove then slowly and NOT in one go.
