I have created a new site that I am presently trying to get links for. At the moment I only have about 30 links (with Google Rank of 4-7 ... mostly 6's) and are in process of getting more although finding it very time consuming.
If you could get linked from sites that had a Ranking of 8, 9 and 10 ..... - Would you pay and how much? (i.e what would it be worth to you to be linked from a high site?)

Hi Sleepy, First of all, getting linked from a "site" that has a PageRank of 10 as its homepage will probably not have a PageRank 10 if you are to be linked from an interior page, therefore, you would be better off asking if you could get linked from a PAGE with a PageRank of 8, 9 and 10 as opposed to a SITE with a PageRank of 8, 9 and 10. See what I mean here? Now, would I pay for such a link? We'll, for ONLY the PageRank value, no! I would pay if the link produced revenue (visitors who click through and become paying customers) for me in the same way a Google AdWords link would produce revenue. If the link produces no revenue, then I would not pay for it, even if it was a PageRank 10 page with only 10 total links on it. - And would a single link from a site that is ranked 9 or 10 make that much of a difference to your position in search engines such as Google?

That of course would depend on your keyword phrase. If your phrase is not very competitive then it may move you from #100 to #80. If your phrase is very competitive then it may move you from #100 to #99. - Is it worth offering money or free services in return for a link?

Yes, but only if it produces revenue from the visitors that click through. If you believe that a high PageRank page such as a PageRank 8, 9 and 10 will help your page to move up in the rankings from #100 to #10 for a competitive phrase then you believe incorrectly. If you believe that a high PageRank page such as a PageRank 8, 9 and 10 will help your page to move up in the rankings from #100 to #10 for a low competition phrase then you believe incorrectly. Research shows that a link from a PageRank 10 page along with 68,400 other backlinks ranks this page at #48 for a single keyword. The page at #1 is a PageRank 7 with only 1,960 backlinks and as far as could be seen, there were no pages linking to it with a PageRank 10 or 9. You be the judge, would you pay money for that link from the PageRank 10 page I mentioned? How much is that link worth to you?
