Here is what is in the works to be announced within a week or two:
Numerous tweaks to the signup page to include: - form question if they would want us to auto submit the links page. - more aggressive enforcement of links page validation. - links will only show up now after being hand approved.
Members: - New username and password so that existing members may update their listings at any time. - A longer description field.
This week, I am walking through each site and seeing if it has been submitted and revalidating all sites and link pages. I will also be submitting any page not in the search engines.
I will make some sort of email announcement about the new features when they are ready. I may just post it in the forum and use that as a beta test period and do a full announcment during the next links refresh on the first of the month.
Anything else you can think of that I need to do, please let me know.
Once again, thanks for all your work. I haven't submitted my link since I knew your were planning to submit the links automatically. One question, for those of us who are not new members, do we need to do anything to have our links submitted automatically by you?
I would vote AGAINST longer descriptions. They seem to be a good length now, and more text will just bloat file size. Search engines don't care--or even know--if you've got a big description or little description with a link on a page.
I had it set at 150 chars for the description and quite a few people complained that wasn't enough. I tend to agree somewhat. I set it to 200chars now, but mention 175 on the sign up page It gives them 25 chars to play.
The signup page now has a question: "auto submit links page...". Everyone that was in the program prior to that addition (except those that asked that I don't), will have their page autosubmitted. In the last update I asked what people thought...
I have been a busy camper...whew. I need a vacation.
