| Hello everyone:) I'm new here and have some questions about linking to other websites. I'm building a site and I want to add some links on my homepage that go to other sites. Q. 1. Is it ok to first place the links on my site that go to other websites before I place it on the internet? And then once on the internet get the other websites to link to my site. (I'm speaking about the sites that say to "add your url" to their site and use their link on your page to link to them.) I ask this because I'm new to developing a site and I heard that when you place a website on the internet it gets spidered and indexed and I was thinking that it would help to place my site higher on the search results of engines than if I waited till after my site was on the internet and then placed them on my site. My thoughts were also that if I placed my site on the internet that my site would get spidered and then I would have to wait until the next spidering for my site to get better results. Not that this is the only thing that counts for better ranking but I was curious. I'm not really sure how this works and this might be a dumb question and I apologize but I am new here and new to SEO.(I think this is the proper term to use.) Please explain. Please can anyone help.
