tracking who links to you
Any effective tool?

The challenge:

you can detect who is linking to you in some SE like google. But most of sites will not be listed there even if they are linking to you.

a 50% of my incoming links are not listed in google.
I got Arelis software but it tracks incoming links to my site relaying SE too. So I really don't know how many and who is really linking to me.
That is a serious problem because my link pages have some 300 outgoing links.

First, I don't want to waste links with those that are not linking back,

Second, I need to know who is linking to me and be able to track that on time and in the future.

So I basically need a tool able to handle a list of urls (given, I can provide a list of sites I suspect are linking to me) and tell me if there is a link to my site.

Does such a tool exists?
I heard that software to check positions on SE bothers SE so I don't want to pass for the same problem checking who is linking to me...

Any help?

LinkWrangler.com? They are PR 0!
How can I belive them?
They can't get a single point of PR and they sell link popularity! Not a single back link to them...

This has been an interesting thread. Although it's nice to know what software other people are using, discussions like these can become a bit promotional. That's one of the limitations we have to deal with in order to preserve the idea of promoting discussion over promotion itself.

Let's pick up this conversation at the next Publishers Conference. ;) Y
