msg:411037 | 2:29 pm on Aug 28, 2000 (gmt 0) | I have a directory site (I'm using links 2 until I'm done with the PHP/mySQL site) and all the outgoing links are run threw a counter. I was wondering if there would be any/how much theming benefit to linking straight to the sites (about 2600 sites)?

msg:411038 | 2:41 pm on Aug 28, 2000 (gmt 0) | I've pondered that question myself, I think there is a good chance of having the SE algos recognize your Links site as an "authority hub" and -perhaps- increase your themes relevance to boot. You'd be giving up the "hits" counter, but if Alex has a mod to link directly, I think it is worth installing.

You'll lose the "Cool" page, too, of course. Another tip: Use third level domains on your major categories and submit those, it'll increase the depth of spidering and you might even pick up some "cross-domain" link boost in relevance.
