We have been using Links to You at our website for over six months and the results were marginal. Last month we bought a commercial program we found on DaveCentral.Com named Jet Hits 2000. The number of links to our site has gone up tremendously and our ranking on Google has taken off (we're in a competitive market under Tshirts, but I won't give the name of our site).
Does anyone know if links matter anywhere except Google? While the results there have been wonderful none of the other search engines seem to care about links. Thanks! Angela
The consensus amongst the regulars here seems to be that links matter on both AV and Inktomi, although they aren't nearly as important as with Google. Beyond a certain fairly (small? 30-50?) number of RELAVENT links, AV and INK tend to ignore additional linkage. AV and INK also seem to value links from a directory more highly. If your site is listed in Yahoo or ODP, submit the page a few times!
You started using Jet Hits 2000 last month, give it time! Each engine spiders and indexes at their own pace. My advice is to persist and give it six months to evaluate how effective your efforts are.
Then come back and tell us which engines like lots of links!
Thought a quick note was in order for people who don't see the Jay Leno show. Angela Ramos is the name of a rather dingy woman he met when he did his "interview the man on the street" routine.
She was so strange and got so many laughs without trying to, that he has actually hired her several times since to do some "remote reporting" -- giving her assignments like trying to kiss all the presidential candidates. You'd have to see her to believe that anyone could be put together like this.
