Firefox showing wml version of sites

 2:15 pm on Jul 28, 2004 (gmt 0)

I keep getting shown the wml version of a site or a wml browser error when I try to look at sites with firefox. usually these are sites that require a log-in i.e. hotmail, paypal, other webmail apps.

i don't have wml broswer extension installed and the pages load fine in IE.

any ideas?

wml is what? a wireless sort of extension?

Have you got any wireless stuff installed? Are you using FF from a laptop that might have same?

Otherwise, not a clue. Sorry!

This might help:

[extensionroom.mozdev.org ]
version 0.5 did change browser settings which unexpectedly broke Hotmail and things. The way to fix it is to go back about:config and reset the value of network.http.accept.default. Or install version 0.6 which has a checkbox on the options panel to control this behaviour.

my network.http.accept.default was set to

so I right clicked on the value "User-set" and clicked Reset and now hotmail and paypal work again.

bizarrely, I haven't tried to insatll wml browser extension on this PC ever, nor is it version 0.6 (i'm running 0.9) so where this has come form I'll never know.

thankyou for your help.

wap/wml is the new phone mode.

"WAP uses the mark-up language WML (not HTML)
WML is defined as an XML 1.0 application"

They are building new standards for it as we speak (I know someone who works for one of the major cellphone developers). Very shortly the new codes should be ready for general release. It's all pretty cool!

If anyone needs the info on where to learn the new language, just sticky me.

Oh, and thanks for letting me join! i'm learning so much!
