If I select a block of text from a site I'm viewing in Firefox, when I paste that text into another application, it displays in some nutty font style - definitely not what I'm viewing in the browser. This leads to a lot of reformating, which is a pain. Any ideas on how to get around this?

I think this has to do with the program that you are pasting the text into... I would paste it into a text editor like Notepad and then copy from Notepad and paste into your desired program... There are other options, but this seems like the simplest

You want to grab
https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?application=firefox&id=134&vid=1226
copy plain text extension, that solves the problems.
