Doubleclick cookie from WebmasterWorld or Opera?
WebmasterWorld seems to add extra cookies.

I'm playing around with the cookie settings in Opera 6.03. I've got it set to accept all & throw away all new cookies on close.

I have 3 sites, one of which is WebmasterWorld, that I have saved the cookies. Using O4FE to view cookies, I see only those 3 site's cookies with all browser windows closed.

So I open Opera to my homepage which is a WebmasterWorld page and then immediately close the browser. I check O4FE and now I've got new cookies from lycos & doubleclick.

BT, you doing that or do I have something screwy going on?

I'm pretty sure that the opera banner bar sets cookies on it's own. Don't quote me on that. This might be what you are seeing.

Not me. I would be the banner thingo as Opera does have a strong association with Lycos networks. I wasn't aware of banners being run from there though. The default start page in Opera 6, I believe goes to a Lycos portal site for opera.

So maybe I sensationalized my post title a little.

BT, bastion of exploitation, setting a doubleclick cookie to track my every move :)
