Opera layers not on top of each other

I have posted something similar in another part of this forum without reply, so I'm sorry if posting this here offends anyone.
My layers in Opera6 Windows are displaying one directly below one another instead of being directly ontop of each other. The same thing happens in IE 5.1.6 Mac.
Most other browsers seem OK. Opera7 Windows is OK

I've never had much problem with Opera 6, it certainly behaves itself more than NN4.x! Perhaps a short code snippet might help us to spot a possible problem?

Are you using absolutely or relatively positioned div's?

How are the layers positioned?
