Excel-2-MySQL & MySQL-2-Excel
how can I convert from one to the other?

Does anyone know of any software that will
let me export some fields from different tables
(pre-selected by me) to excel so the user can then
edit the data and import it back to mysql.

I don't want to to give the user full access to
all the tables, just some of the fields on a few of
the tables.

does anyone know if this is possible and what
software I should check out?

cheers

you can write something to do that. You can create the excel file dynamically and populate it from the database based on a user input query.

You can also open an Excel file using the File System Object (in ASP) and read from it to write into a database.

We just started discussing this in the Microsoft forum above. Might help you as well.
