Who is getting invited to beta YPN?
What's the topic of your site?

I thought I read that YPN was selecting about 2,000 sites or so for their beta testing. I just wondered if the sites selected were clustered in a particular field or group of fields or else covered a wide range of topics.

Any YPN participants care to share information about the type of website they run?

entrepreneurship site - seems to have plenty of advertisers for YPN (and Adsense). i always have targeted ads immediately for both

I guess you can still apply if you are a US publisher.

my topic is wine, but so far the relevancy of the ads has been very sporadic. Not sure if it's a matter of shortage of ads or dysfunctional system.

Concerning relevancy:

Big difference I've noticed is the lack of real-time matching of YPN verses Google.

If I create a page and serve a Google ad on it the results are somewhat relevant the first time the page is served. Even if its not a direct hit with the page topic it is a hit for the site's overall theme.

With Yahoo, the first time the page is served PSA's are shown rather than site themed ads. Wait a few seconds and serve the page again and targeted ads are delivered. This works fine with most sites, but on busy forums with new pages being generated all the time it won't work well.

I am seeing sites in a wide range of topics. They definitely seem to be going for variety during the beta, they are no sticking with certain areas.

Travel photography.

Unfortunately (?) I am from Europe, but they invited me anyway. I don't think I could sign up if I wanted to. :-)

I have a health site and was accepted by Yahoo. It's still relatively early so it's hard to compare the revenue with what Google offers. Can anyone see an immediate difference?

Does anyone know how long it takes to hear from YPN regarding being accepted into the program? We were not invited to join but have applied and haven't heard anything. It's only been a few days, though.

I applied well over a month ago and was just accepted today. My site fits in their Music Entertainment category, all unique interviews, reviews, video, photos...

The ads have been up for about 6 hours and are already targetted. I am serving a 120x600 with 5 ads. The first three are accurate and the last two are not.

No clicks yet, but it is 3:15am here.

Haven't bothered to put the ads up yet... not too impressed with the system - think I'll wait it out for a bit.

My site is a very tight niche, about teaching English as a second language.

It's a very new site.

I'm EXTREMELY pleased with Yahoo on this one. The ads AREN'T targetted 100%, but for me, that's actually good.

Alot of teachers are looking for something better, so they get mixes of ad units with things regarding ESL teacher certification, but after those run dry, they start getting interesting things like speech pathology careers, etc.

My CTR isn't very high, mainly because I don't have alot of traffic yet (I'm trying to build up my jobs postings before getting lots of mainstream traffic), but I am getting INSANELY high amounts for my clicks.

If I get 1/4th of what I'm making per click once the beta is over, it'll still be killing adsense for me.

Go Yahoo!
