I tried YPN about 8 months ago and had terrible ad targeting. I run guitar forum websites and my YPN ads were for... and I'm not making this up... buying used Jet Airplanes. I had very few clicks with YPN because the targeting was all over the map. Instead of making $20 a day I made $20 a week. After 3 weeks I dropped Yahoo's Ads.

Targetting is getting better and by far higher CPC for me. However fewer clicks so it all evens out.

YPN has horrible targeting right now, but this will get better as they get more advertisers. CPC is better though - but this will probably go down as they get more advertisers and move out of Beta..

I switched to YPN late last month from Adsense. I was making $N/day with Google, I'm making $N*4/day currently with YPN. I've already made more since I've switched than I've made in the last two months with Adsense. I guess it depends on the site and the kind of traffic it gets. Most of the ads I have from YPN are well targeted; better targeted than Adsense's ads. Plus the CPM seems to be much better. I'm actually averaging less traffic and making more money, go figure.
