crawler0-complaints-to-admin.webresearch.pa-x.dec.c Have I been sprung? han chung msg:407013 5:33 am on Aug 5, 2000 (gmt 0) Hi,
I just recently had what looks like an AV spider visit my site (Mercator). Upon doing the DNS lookup, I got:
Has anyone seen this before? Does this mean someone's complained about my listing and AV has added me to their 'bad sites' list?

This has been talked about not long ago here, but you may have been unable to find it. In any case, the short story is that it is not anything to worry about.
Mercator and AV share IP's from similar blocks of addresses, they were once both owned by digital. The ominous looking host name is to advise you of how to contact them if
you have complaints about their spider. han chung msg:407015 5:45 am on Aug 5, 2000 (gmt 0)
Phew! So it's just the garden variety AV spider then? Almost thought it was time to start investing in a new domain.

Is that to say that: ip number: 126.96.36.199
is an AV spider or just a close friend???

It is mercator. Run from the web research arm of Digital/Compaq/Altavista.
