RE: Yahoo Local
Mystery references to my site from Yahoo Local pages.

I was checking my backlinks and references in Google today and found a puzzle.

There were a couple Yahoo Local pages listed in the serps that showed a reference to my site in the snippet.

This seemed a little odd to me. They were for cities in two different states far from me, for businesses that I don't link to, but which are loosely related to the topic of my site.

The only connection I can think of is that sites I link to link to one of the businesses listed on these Yahoo Local pages. Or that one of the businesses on the YL pages links to me.

But when I go to the Yahoo Local pages, there is no sign of a link or reference to my site, on the page or in the source code.

It's a puzzle to me, any idea what's up?

Ok, I've figured out how this happened.

Yahoo Local pages

To begin with, I probably worded that wrong.

It should have referenced Yahoo Local Search Results Pages.

That might change the issue a bit.

It apparently happens when Local Search results get supplemented with regular search results.

May have been happening for a long time, but this is the time I noticed it.
