Microsoft releases beta version of Windows Vista

Microsoft Corp., the world's largest software maker, began offering software developers and technology partners a trial version of its next major upgrade to Windows on Wednesday.

Those developers, who will work on a beta that lacks the main graphics interface, will report bugs and other issues that need to be fixed before the software is released in the second half of 2006.

I understand that it's to be called Vista as opposed to Longhorn. I think "Longtime" may have been more appropriate :)

BTW have you heard that the naughty people have already said that VISTA is an acronym for ...

Viruses . Infections . Spyware . Trojans . Adware :)

Microsoft Windows Vista Beta 1 Fact Sheet [microsoft.com]

It looks as though MSDN [msdn.microsoft.com] subscribers now have access to Windows Vista Beta 1 downloads. Any beta testers out there with first impressions?
