Help, please!

Hi, I need to set up a client/server network with 3 machines + server.
I have an hp proliant server running small business server 2003, 2 machines running XP Pro and one XP Home machine. My network hardware consists of 2 belkin wireless adsl modem/router/4 port switches, 2 switches, and loads of ethernet cables. I need to set up a wired network.

What is the best set up so I can have all files shared on the server, all machines accessing files and applications on the server and maximum security with the built-in firewall of the Belkin router. I will have to access the server from the Internet as well. Do I plug the server and the client machines in the router or I connect them to a switch first and then to the router? Will I have to assign IP addresses manually or let the DHSP server in the router do that?

So many questions and I am already pulling my hair. It is supposed to be an easy job...

I will appreciate any help! Thank you!
