Moving hosting

I'm looking to move our hosting out of Rackspace, mostly a cost savings move as our hosting costs are over $1,000/mo., nothing compared to my last job, but alot of money for the company I work for. I am looking at Cari.net and Rackmounted for dedicated solutions, we have a custom built java app. I would appreciate anyones thoughts about the two above especially network and bandwidth comments, as we were spoiled at Rackspace. If anyone has any other suggestions I am open to options.

Out of interest - how much CPU and RAM did you get for $1k?

How much are you trying to save? Are you happy with the service?

Unless its significant savings its sounds like a bad idea to me. Dedicated hosing IMO is not a commodity and 12K a year is not expensive if you get a good sla.

Its a P4 3.0Gz, 1GB Ram. Looking to move up to Dual Xeon and 2GB Ram or something similar.

The hosting cost will drop down 70% from the move.

That isn't much for 1K.
But if you run a critical financial or auction site i would stay with them just for the support.
